This week Aqua will be reading meters for the Venango Water Company from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. on September 26, 27 and 28. Our representatives will wear Aqua uniforms and drive Aqua vehicles. All Aqua employees carry ID badges, and you may ask to see them.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call our customer service team at 1.877.987.2782. See here for instructions on sharing your meter reading if we weren’t able to get into your home this week.

Background on the Situation

On August 12, Aqua Pennsylvania has been ordered by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to operate the Venango Water Company (VWC) in the Reno community due to water quality concerns.

We immediately began working with the community to provide additional bottled water in the community, in coordination with active community efforts. Operationally, did the following to help lifting the do not consume order for the Venango Water Company system in the Reno community as quickly as possible:

  • Stabilized the system to ensure customers have access to non-potable water for sanitary use.
  • Hauled in clean water and flushed the system to help remove potentially contaminated water; we are continuing to identify areas where additional flushing is needed.
  • Identified multiple sampling locations throughout the community and are sharing our testing and results with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, who will ultimately give us approval to lift the Do Not Consume order.

On September 1,  Aqua Pennsylvania received approval from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to lift the Do Not Consume Order for Venango Water Company (VWC) customers. See the full public notice here.

Regular testing confirmed the water meets PADEP drinking water standards and is safe for consumption. We thank the PADEP, Venango Water Company owners, and Community leaders for their collaborative work to address this issue, and the VWC customers for their trust and patience.
