Aqua Pennsylvania Celebrates 20 Years of Service in White Haven

On July 15, dozens of White Haven, PA-area residents joined representatives from Aqua Pennsylvania at the White Haven Area Community Library to celebrate our 20th year of providing drinking water and wastewater services to the community and the surrounding area.

Aqua Pennsylvania President Marc Lucca provided children with a short course of water education to kick off Aqua's 20th anniversary celebration at White Haven Community Library.

The celebration honored Aqua’s customers in White Haven. We made $1,000 donations to the White Haven Area Community Library and the White Haven Fire Company. With fire company members working the grill, we provided and served barbequed hot dogs and ice cream while firefighters guided the children as they toured the station’s fire engine.

Members of the library's board of directors were on hand to accept Aqua's donation. The funds will help with the purchase of new books and technology to further expand service offerings.

Aqua purchased White Haven’s water and wastewater system assets from the White Haven Municipal Authority in March 2002. Since then, Aqua has invested $12 million to ensure customers have safe and reliable access to water and wastewater service. Of equal importance, Aqua has become ingrained in the White Haven Community, supporting organizations through financial donations and volunteer efforts. Over the last 20 years, donations have been made to the White Haven Fire Company, the White Haven Ministerial Association Food Pantry, the White Haven Area Community Library and the Luzerne County Conservation District.

Community service is a critical part of Essential Utilities’ mission to improve the lives of individuals and families in each of our service territories. The celebration in White Haven gave the company an opportunity to invest in local non-profit organizations that are equally committed to helping improve the lives of community residents.

Aqua plans to continue its 20th anniversary with activities in White Haven throughout the year, including providing an additional donation that will benefit the community and complement the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources trail project.
