Danville Treatment Plant Optimization System Among a Select Group to Receive Directors Award
Aqua Illinois has achieved the Directors Award in the Partnership for Safe Water’s Treatment Plan Optimization Program. Aqua’s Danville system, serving nearly 41,000 customers in Vermillion County, received this award following a comprehensive assessment of their treatment plant operations, a significant achievement towards ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality drinking water to the community.
The self-assessment process includes evaluation of treatment plant system operations and performance; identification of performance-limiting factors, the development of action plans to achieve treatment plant system optimization, culminating in a peer-reviewed completion report. Aqua Illinois was recognized at the annual conference of the American Water Works Association for achieving the Directors Award level of performance within the Partnership’s Treatment Plant Optimization Program in Denver Colorado on June 8, 2025.
“As a subscriber to the Partnership’s Treatment Plant Program, we are honored to receive this award and proud of the work being done in our Danville system and all across our state,” said Aqua Illinois President David Carter. “This is the very work that sets us apart, and this honor highlights our commitment to continuously strive to improve performance and water quality for our customers in the state.”
Aqua Illinois has participated in the Partnership program since 2020, receiving this Director’s Award all five years, and has committed to fully optimizing the treatment plant system.
