Funding is part of Aqua Pennsylvania’s commitment to deliver quality drinking water at affordable customer rates
Since 2021, Aqua Pennsylvania awarded nearly $200 million in PENNVEST funding
Aqua Pennsylvania announced it was awarded a $3.6 million low-interest loan through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) for lead service line replacements throughout Delaware County. Nearly 400 customer-owned lead and galvanized steel service lines will be replaced in the following communities:
- Upper Darby
- East Lansdowne
- Lansdowne
- Millbourne
- Yeadon
This latest service line replacement project is expected to start this summer and be completed in summer 2027. Customer-owned service lines are the pipes running from approximately the curb to homes and businesses. Aqua already treats drinking water to prevent leaching of lead from pipes into the drinking water, but replacing these aging pipes is an extra step in reducing the risk for customers.
