Why Conservation is so Important
At Aqua, we rely on both groundwater and surface water for our water sources, but our communities are using these resources faster than nature can replenish them. Prolonged drought and overconsumption are expediting the need to conserve water now.
We depend on everyone’s collective water conservation in both wet and dry weather to ensure our water sources are protected. Studies conducted in Texas show that when all households follow water conservation tips, water usage in the whole community decreases by a quarter annually.

What You Can Do to Conserve Water
Everyone plays a role in water conservation. The most important thing you can do is follow your community’s water use restrictions.
Here are other things you can do to help:
- Keep track of your daily and monthly water use in the Aqua e-Portal app
- Outdoor
- Avoid watering your lawn or garden in the middle of the day.
- Try xeriscaping by planting native plants that require minimal water.
- Use gator bags and mulch to minimize water loss on your trees and shrubs.
- Use a broom, not a hose, to clean driveways, patios and sidewalks.
- Kitchen
- Only run the dishwasher when it’s full.
- Plug the sink or use a wash basin if washing dishes by hand. Don’t let the water run.
- Bathroom
- Turn off the tap while shaving or brushing teeth.
- Turn off the water while soaping up.
- Laundry Room
- Wash only full loads of laundry or use the appropriate load size selection on the washing machine.
