Aqua highlights sustained investments in infrastructure and customer preparedness to deliver year-round safe and reliable service
Autumn has arrived and as communities observe National Preparedness Month, Aqua Pennsylvania employees remain hard at work on essential projects to deliver safe and reliable service throughout the fall and winter.
These efforts are part of Aqua’s long-term strategy to enhance the resilience of essential infrastructure across 33 counties in Pennsylvania, strengthen systems against severe weather, and maintain reliable drinking water and wastewater services for more than 1.5 million people.
Each year, Aqua invests significantly in our communities to replace aging water mains, upgrade treatment plants, install PFAS treatment systems, and implement advanced monitoring technologies. These investments not only improve system reliability and water quality but also help Aqua better prepare for increasingly severe weather events and meet the long-term needs of local communities. In 2025 alone, Aqua Pennsylvania expects to invest more than $380 million to replace infrastructure and enhance emergency operations.
“Preparedness is a year-round commitment,” said Aqua Pennsylvania President Marc Lucca. “Our employee training coupled with ongoing infrastructure investments are key to maintaining the safety, reliability and resilience of our drinking water and wastewater systems. By planning ahead and making proactive investments in our employees and our infrastructure, we’re prepared not only for emergencies, but for whatever challenges may arise.”
Tips for Protecting Water Service This Fall & Winter
Aqua Pennsylvania encourages customers to take proactive steps at home during National Preparedness Month, before the first cold snap, to protect their plumbing and water service:
- Check your basement and sump pump. Test equipment now to reduce the risk of flooding that can damage plumbing and contaminate water.
- Disconnect outdoor hoses. Protect your outdoor connections by disconnecting hoses and shutting off outdoor spigots ahead of storms.
- Locate and mark your main shutoff valve in case a pipe bursts during colder months and you need to quickly shut off water to your home.
- Seal drafts and insulate exposed pipes. Close cracks and openings near pipes to help prevent freezing and wrap pipes in unheated areas to reduce the risk of freezing.
- Sign up for WaterSmart alerts. Customers can register for text, email, or phone updates to stay informed about water and wastewater service status and advisories.

Aqua Pennsylvania offers a variety of customer assistance programs to help customers manage their bills, including monthly discounts, balance credits, leak repair support and Aqua Aid Pennsylvania.
